NetEase Inc. has announced that their Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game Storm Arena is launching their first global beta test on January 24 at 6pm PST for Android players in Canada, Mexico, and Brazil, with iOS also available in Canada.

The game, which has been in development since 2015, is a fun and fast-paced 3v3 multiplayer game that features a lot of cute animal characters with the heroes being Dashley the Duck and his friends against the main antagonist with a boring, normal human name: Dr. William and his evil entourage.

Storm Arena has a heavy aquatic and beach theme, with most battle arenas having some form of water in the map. Each battle takes only 3 minutes long, so it’s important to make every second count. You can build your team with the 12 characters available, and with all of them offering a different set of skills, you can try out a lot of different combinations to best suit your play style and game mode. Yes, the core gameplay is resembles another multiplayer arena fighter game - Brawl Stars alot, but the cheeky tone and splashy combat is definitely refreshing.

There are 4 game modes to choose from: Bounty Hunter, Turf War, Goal Attack and Pieces of Eight. Turf War, for example, needs you to occupy areas and hold them for as long as possible to earn points.

You can download Storm Arena for iOS or visit the game’s official website if you’re curious for more news and information. Just in case you want to know what the game characters’ roles and horoscopes are… yep, it’s all there in the website.

[Editor's note: The game is currently not available in the SEA region, we contacted NetEase to inquire on the exact release date as well as beta date]

Kristine Poh is an intern at IGN SEA whose favorite character in Storm Arena is definitely the cat named Cattitude.
